Desi zvonuri si teasere au tot circulat de pe la jumatatea lui 2006, proiectul de colaborare al Midway Games si MTV - jocul The Wheelman - va aparea abia la sfarsitul lui 2008 sau inceputul lui 2009. Pentru cei care au iubit seria GTA, The Wheelman este jocul pe care l-au asteptat. Ca si gameplay, jocul este hiper-realist, putandu-se interactiona cu aproape tot envirnomentul "The game is set in the city of Barcelona, an open world full of destructable objects, alleyways, shortcuts through office blocks and a total of 25 story missions and 105 side missions."
