La un moment dat, un tip american, pe numele sau Mark Ontkush, s-a gandit ca daca Google ar avea un fundal negru s-ar putea reduce consumul global de energie cu circa 750 Megawatts pe an. (explicatie: 74 watts este consum pentru pagini albe, 59 watts pentru cele cu fundal negru). Asa a aparut BLACK GOOGLE sau BLACKLE.com"...If Google had a black screen, taking in account the huge number of pageviews, according to calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved".
